Our Traditional Village Communities

Welcome to Jonesport, Maine, one of the few remaining traditional fishing villages left on the East Coast. The people of Jonesport are the epitome of hard-working New England folks and the landscape here exemplifies Maine's natural beauty. Our town boasts miles of bold rocky shoreline, sandy beaches, islands, and open ocean views that are second to none.

Just off Jonesport's shore lies the fishing town of Beals, on Beals Island. This small island town has a population of approximately 700-800 people. The communities of Beals and Jonesport operate very much as one.

Down East Activities and Sightseeing

The shorelines of Beals and Jonesport are peppered with wharfs, cottages, and boatyards. Between Beals and Jonesport is Moosabec Reach, where you can catch a glimpse of the working waterfront, or simply sit and enjoy our refreshing Down East salt air! If you're looking for private, pristine, deep-waterfront property, Great Wass Island is your ticket! With a handful of trophy homes and a 1,500-acre nature conservancy, Great Wass has some of the most elite waterfront on the coast.

Despite the beauty of the region, Jonesport does not have thousands of tourists flooding the sidewalks. However, there are many attractions and amenities that Jonesport and the surrounding communities have to offer. For example, you can make reservations to vacation at one of the many available cottages, take a guided Puffin tour, or rent a kayak and explore the surrounding coves and islands. The area also offers a marina, library, restaurants, bed & breakfasts, nature trails, antique shops, grocery store, and a local lumber and hardware store.
